Confuzzled Ball’s name is Conjectural. No official name has been given, and it is subject to change at any time.

An unnamed tank (commonly referred to as "Ball" or "ID 53") is the default tank in Diep.io's code. It is used for times when the player doesn't have a defined tank, such as in the middle of upgrading between tanks, and for the possession of other entities, such as Dominators and, formerly, Mounted Turrets.

Design[]

This tank is simply a circle with no offensive weapons.

Technical[]

ID53 in plain sight

Notice how there's a frame where no guns are on the tank; That's the tank hidden in plain sight during a tank upgrading!

This tank is not used as an actual playable tank, and is instead used as a default for certain functions, such as possessing a Dominator. Upon possessing a tank, you gain all of their attributes.

  • This tank is used as the default tank.
    • This is likely why your tank temporarily loses all weapons before being replaced with the new tank upon upgrading.
  • This tank is used as the template for the control of Dominators, and briefly Mounted Turrets (such as the one found on Auto Gunner).
    • Upon possession of an Auto Turret, your level would be set to 30 and your name would be changed to "Mounted Turret". These are actually the attributes of the Auto Turret itself, meaning that it's the Auto Turret that's level 30 and has the name "Mounted Turret".

Trivia[]

  • In the code, this tank has a "devTank" flag that is set to true, meaning that it's inaccessible in Sandbox.
    • The "devTank" flag was accidentally set to false for 10 minutes when the Sandbox mode was initially added on 19th November 2016, allowing non-developers to use the tank. The flag was again set to false on 13th January 2017 for unknown reasons, lasting for about 8 hours.
  • The feature that allowed a player to possess Auto Turrets was most likely removed due to Multi-boxing.
    • Multi-boxing is the action of one player controlling multiple entities at the same time.
    • Another reason could've been that a player acting with malicious intent could effectively disable another tank's turret by idling while controlling it.
    • A bug existed in Sandbox where holding "K" while controlling a mounted turret allowed the player to get unlimited score.
  • Using the Console, a Smasher can be given the appearance of this tank by using these commands:
    • ren_stroke_soft_color_intensity 0
    • net_replace_color 0 0xcdcdcd.

Corrections[]

  • This tank is not separate from the Mounted Turret. They are one and the same.
  • This tank could not kill a Spike by ramming it and still keep 30% of its health.

  1. This tank's level requirement in the code is listed as 0, meaning that technically it's Tier 1.
